NICE advises lower BMI thresholds for these backgrounds, because metabolic risk appears at a lower BMI. It can make you eligible where a single cut-off would not.

Do you have a weight-related health condition, such as type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure or sleep apnoea?
Are you pregnant, breastfeeding, or planning to become pregnant?
Have you or a close family member had medullary thyroid cancer or MEN2?
Have you ever had pancreatitis?
Have you ever been diagnosed with an eating disorder?
Have you had gallbladder disease or gallstones?
Do you have type 2 diabetes?

Health data is a special category under UK GDPR and is processed on the basis of the explicit consent you give above. What happens, in order

  1. 01Your health questionnaireHeight, weight, medical history, current medicines and any previous weight-management treatment. About five minutes.
  2. 02Identity and information checksThese medicines are classed as high-risk, so a prescriber cannot rely on the form alone. What you report is verified independently.
  3. 03Clinical reviewA named prescriber reads your assessment and decides. Some people are not suitable, and this is where that is established.
  4. 04Your outcomeIf treatment is appropriate you receive a plan setting out what it is and what to expect. If it is not, you are told why.
